The Puerto Rican tenimesistas Brian Afanador, Daniel González, Ángel Naranjo and the Uruguayan Olympian Melanie Díaz already have the first tournament of the 2022 season of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF, for its acronym in English) on their calendar.

The quartet of athletes will start the season in Germany in a couple of World Table Tennis (WTT) events, according to the president of the Puerto Rican Table Tennis Federation (FPTM), Iván Santos, to  EL VOCERO .

Afanador, González and Naranjo will be active in the WTT Feeder Düsseldorf I, which will take the stage from January 12 to 15 in the German city of Düsseldorf. For his part, Díaz is scheduled to play in the WTT Feeder Düsseldorf II, which will be from 17 to 20 of that month, where the Puerto Rican trio will also be active.

The tenimesistas utuadeños –Afanador and González– will play singles and doubles in both tournaments; while the Guaynabeño Naranjo will compete individually. Diaz will play mixed singles and doubles with Gonzalez.

In both tournaments, Afanador, González and Díaz will start the competition from the main round in the singles and doubles event; while Naranjo will play the individual preliminary phase at Düsseldorf II.
