(by Steve Hopkins)

Germany and Sweden remained dominant as the third day of Men’s Singles competition came to a close at the Leibherr 2020 ITTF European Table Tennis Championships in Warsaw today.  The results bode well as a preview for the Olympics Team competition as Sweden’s Falck, Persson, Kallberg, Morgard, and Karlsson all advanced – and the same is true for Germany’s Ovtcharov, Boll, Franziska, Duda, and Filas.  The other players through to the final 16 are Szocs and Ionescu (both from Romania), Gardos (Austria), Jancarik (Czech Republic), and Pucar (Croatia).

Matches will continue on Saturday – two rounds of singles play will narrow the singles field to the the final four, as doubles (men’s, women’s, mixed) play the Semifinals and Finals.
