Hello Table Tennis players and friends!

Ana Maria Garcia Betancur

The 2016 Rocky Mountain State Games table tennis events finished last Sunday, July 24th, and we would like to congratulate our club member and coach, Ana Maria Garcia Betancur, who, representing DTTA, reached the finals in the Elite Singles Open and received the silver medal. Ana Maria endured some hard matches, beating good players like Manohar Karthikeyan 3-1, and then Loi Pham in the semifinals, also 3-1, to eventually face a great player and friend in the finals match, Luis Enrique Serrano (1-3).

Luis Enrique, a.k.a. “Kike,” is a player from the Villalba Tenis de Mesa Club in Puerto Rico.

Congratulations, Kike! Even though here only for a short time, you are the Colorado State Champion! And even though you beat our girl, we are very happy for you! : )   The third place/bronze medal in this event went to Vinay Chandra.

Denver Table Tennis Alliance also did pretty well in the Doubles event. Ana Maria and I joined the Elite Doubles Open event.  After beating the pair of Bishal Malla and Dave Vollmar (3-1) in the semifinals, we reached the finals match and lost to a great pair (0-3), Vinay Chandra and Manohar Karthikeyan. Congratulations, guys! You played very well!  The third place/bronze medal in this event went to Luis Enrique Serrano and Jimmy Chen.
