Defending Champs “All In” for Puerto Rico Open Repeat

Posted on

(by Steve Hopkins)

The countdown is on for the 2023 Butterfly Puerto Rico Open Teams.  The clock running on the PR Open Teams Information page currently notes that the tournament starts in 82 days.  *There are already 41 teams signed up – and the big news this week is that defending champions Zhou Xin and Aditya Godwani have signed up as TEAM BAY AREA and they have bolstered their team by adding 2630 rated Ye Tian.

At this point, about 2/3 of the entries are from Puerto Rico (and 1/3 of the entries from the United States with a sprinkling of other international entries).  As we get closer to the entry deadline, expect to see more Caribbean teams, and more squads from Central and South America.

Tournament Organizers are still allowing “Register Now / Pay Later” – so that teams can sign up today but not pay until later in the month.  All early registrants will receive a Pro Shirt as well.

We look forward to seeing you in San Juan in April at this truly special international event.
