Butterfly is proud to sponsor the upcoming 2016 Butterfly LA Open. The Butterfly LA Open is a four-star USATT sanctioned table tennis tournament on September 3rd and 4th with over $36,000 in total prize money.

This year’s tournament brings the “Tai Chi Master”, Vladimir Samsonov, and the returning 2015 Butterfly LA Open Champion Hou Yingchao, to El Monte, California. World-class player Vladimir Samsonov is currently the top seeded player for this year’s tournament. In China, Vladimir is known as the “Tai Chi Master” due to his allround attacking and defensive playing style. Hou Yingchao is currently the second highest rated player.

The LA Open TT Tournament Committee successfully brings this high caliber, fun event to the Los Angeles area for the sixth year. The LA Open not only gives U.S. players the opportunity to see world-class players, it also presents the opportunity for players to compete in 15 events at various levels play and age groups. Open Singles RR, Open Doubles SE, Women’s Singles, Under 4500 Doubles SE, Under 3800 Doubles SE, Under 18 RR, Under 2500 RR and Under 1350 RR are just some of the events that players may compete.

In 2015, three hundred eighteen players participated, with nine players rated over 2600 and 3 players over 2700. In the Open Singles Final Hou Yingchao defeated Joo Saehyuk 4-2 (13-11, 11-7, 11-8, 16-14, 11-7, 11-3).
