Butterfly Coach Geovanny Coello served as the head coach of Ecuador’s university table tennis national team during the Lima 2026 Pan American University Games, held from July 24 to 29 in Lima, Peru.

The Ecuadorian delegation was composed of student-athletes from Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS), and Universidad Técnica de Manabí (UTM), who competed against university programs from across the Americas.

Under Coach Coello’s leadership, the men’s team composed of Joseph Vásquez, Jeremy Cedeño, and Joshua Robayo, won the gold medal in the team event, following a 3–2 victory over the United States in the final.

Ecuador concluded the competition with a total of six medals:

  • Gold – Men’s Team: Joseph Vásquez, Jeremy Cedeño (UPS), and Joshua Robayo (USFQ)
  • Silver – Mixed Doubles: Keimy Anchundia (USFQ) and Joshua Robayo (USFQ)
