Bronze in Chile for Puerto Rico and Naranjo

(by A. Naranjo)

Editor’s Note: Last week, rising Puerto Rican junior star, Angel Luis Naranjo Lopez, competed in the 2019 Senior Latin American Championships in Guatemala City.  Below are his experiences in his own words:

Our team began the 2019 Senior Latin American Championships (Guatemala City, May 27 – June 1) with the team event where we won the Bronze Medal.  We lost in the semifinals to Chile 3-1.  This is a very important achievement for me because I’m still a cadet player and I have already won a Bronze Medal in the Senior category.

In the Doubles event my teammate, Jabdiel Torres, and I lost in the quarterfinals to the Dominican Republic 3-1.  In the Singles event I made it to the Round of 16 without dropping a set, but then lost 4-2 to Livan Martinez from Cuba.  When I had played Livan previously in the Team event where I had lost 3-1. I left satisfied with my participation and my growth as a player.
