Ask The Experts: Xinyue Wang #272 Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question: I am planning to upgrade to ZLC, but scared that would it be controllable or no ? I want to buy Mizutani ZLC or Tiago Apolonia ZLC. MY ALC has very good combination of speed, spin & control. In game play I like to block topspins from opponent, push & topspin rallies as well. I don’t want my setup to be rocket fast. I want my shots to be precise on the table. I am a spin oriented player. If I want to change to Butterfly rubbers which one you recommend with which thickness? Tenergy rubbers are very fast, I don’t want a rocket fast setup but decent speed because ZLC is already fast. So help me to choose the setup. Waiting for your reply impatiently.

This Ask the Experts question was answered by Xinyue Wang. Xinyue is a coach at the New York Indoor Sports Club in New York City. Coach Wang’s response is as follows:

Hi Vishal,

I would recommend you try Dignics 05.

Since Dignics 05 is grippier than the Tenergy rubbers, when you spin the ball, you will feel it stay on the racket longer. Therefore, you will have better control and heavier spin. As you are choosing a fast blade, Dignics 05 can help you slow things down a little bit.

You can also check the following video for the review on the Dignics 05 by clicking here.
Best of luck!
Coach Wang
