Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

Hello.
I needed a suggestion regarding my backhand rubber.
I am an intermediate level table tennis player from Bangladesh. Usually i am a typical forehand based attacker. And little bit defensive in backhand. Being a chopper on spinny shot with a plain rubber (tenergy 05fx) is my speciality and i really enjoy that. But being a chopper with tenergy 05fx is tougher as i had Donic jo gold before. So, i was thinking of using Tackiness II for my backhand as it is not that fast and defensive with a tacky surface Could you please suggest me anything on this issue? Thanks in advance.

Answer:

Your Ask the Experts question was answered by Zhou Xin. He is a Coach at the ICC Table Tennis in Milpitas, California. Coach Zhou’s response is as follows:

Hi Salman,
You have a great combination of rubbers.

However, as you described, your style is more on the defensive side. Tenergy 05 FX could be a little bit too fast for you especially when chopping. I agree with your assessment that you should use a slower rubber.

Tackiness Chop II is certainly one of the top choices. If you don’t attack much on the backhand, you may try the Feint Series as well.

Hope this helps. Stay safe.
