Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

I  asked a similar question but did not receive an elaborate response earlier.

Can you compare the Butterfly Timo Boll Spirit and the Butterfly Viscaria. I saw that both blades have the same composition. Other than the handles are these two blades identical in terms of flex , control and performance?

I am looking for a looping blade with good dwell time . Which of these two blades are better suited for a spin oriented game?

Regards,

Narendran

This Ask the Experts question was answered by Truong Tu. Truong plays at the Silicon Valley Table Tennis Club in San Jose, CA. Coach Tu’s response is as follows:

Hi Naren,

The Timo Boll Spirit has a harder feeling and is a little faster than Viscaria. Therefore, the Viscaria has more dwell time and control.

If you are looking for a spin oriented game, I would recommend Viscaria over Timo Boll Spirit.

I hope this helps!
