Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

I would like to know how the Timo Boll ZLC compares with the Timo Boll ALC. I briefly tried the Jun Mizutani ZLC expecting it to be fastet than the Boll ALC, but found it had a softer feel. Does the same apply to the Boll ZLC?

Answer:

Your Ask the Experts question was answered by Tawny Banh. She is a coach at the Los Angeles Table Tennis Association in El Monte, CA. Coach Banh’s response is as follows:

Hi Steve,  The Timo Boll ZLC has 5 wood layers & 2 Zylon fibers while the Timo Boll ALC has 5 wood layers and 2 Arylate/Carbon (ALC) layers.   ZLC is more bouncy in regards to speed and will offer more spin. It also has more vibration and flexibility while the ALC material has good control and is softer.   I would recommend Timo Boll ALC if you are more of an intermediate player. If you are more advanced, I would suggest the Timo Boll ZLC.  Hope this helps!
