Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

Hi ,
I’m looking to choose between the butterfly viscaria and the butterfly Mizutani ZLC. Please compare the playing qualities of the viscaria and the Mizutani ZLC. Which of these blades will have more dwell time, speed , spin , control and flex.
I’m someone who relies on spin and looping . Please recommend a blade for me .

Kind Regards.
Naren

Answer:

Hello Narendran,

Thank you for your inquiry. It’s great that you show  interest in table tennis by seeking professional opinions in choosing the paddle, with an understanding that the right kind of paddle for you is very important in improving your skills.

You stated that you are looking to choose a paddle between Viscaria and Mizutani ZLC. They are both excellent choices. However, if I am to compare the two, Viscaria’s combined Arylate/Carbon fibers feature lightness, flexibility, and shock absorption.  Viscaria’s other feature, compact head size, also makes it ideal for quick re-looping right off the impact.

On the other hand, Mizutani ZLC with ZL Carbon features a soft feel  for the ball. It provides players an ability to control the ball with more ease, providing excellent ball feedback. As a result,  players gain a great deal of control of the ball in various offensive plays.

Although I am not able to assess your physical capability,  my recommendation would be Mizutani ZLC for its control which is essential in looping and spinning that you desire.

I hope my recommendations were helpful.
