Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Blade: Butterfly TAKSIM (Chinese penhold)
Forehand Rubber: Tenergy
Backhand Rubber: Sriver

Question:  Hi Coach Nan Li:

Thank you so much for your reply which is very helpful to me.

• For Tenergy 25 FX, from my understanding I should use 1.9 mm thk rubber, is that correct?
• You mentioned “all time classic Sriver” for backhand.

1. Sriver: speed 10/spin8/density 38
2. Sriver EL: speed 10/spin 8/density 35
3. Sriver FX: speed 10/spin 8/density 33

Which one is good for me? Please remember my top priority is ball controlling. Should I use 1.9 mm rubber too?

I am current using DHS 6006 (Chinese penhold) with Hurricane III rubber forehand and Tin Arc III backhand. Ball controlling is fine but the quality of blade is poor.

• I read some articles saying Butterfly TAKSIM is a classic blade and can balance ball control, speed and spin. But TAKSIM is little bit thicker and heavier. What is your opinion?

• Do you recommend other blade for me? (an amateur player with top priority of ball control). Cost is not a key factor. I like good quality and suitable blade/rubber for me.

Answer: Hi Cai Shen,

Yes, the 1.9mm in Tenergy 25 FX should be good for your forehand.  And the original Sriver in 2.1mm should be great for your backhand.

As for the blade, I believe the Yoshida Kaii CS would be more suitable for you.  The blade should provide you with maximum control.
