Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Blade: Butterfly Off-
Forehand Rubber: Sriver
Backhand Rubber: Sriver

Question: I’m a 75 year-old player with 5 yrs experience. I have been unable to achieve the speed I need to challenge younger players with better reflexes. So far in order to achieve faster returns, I’ve had to hit the ball harder which distorts the mechanics of my stroke and becomes a strain on my upper arm. My coach says my mechanics are good and suggested I experiment with a somewhat faster rubber without making other changes. He would like me to become more aggressive. (My skill level is guesstimated at 900-1100.) Your thoughts and suggestions.

Answer: Hi Fred,

Thank you for your question and interest in Butterfly equipment! It’s great to hear that you’re serious about your mechanics and can identify the kinks when you overhit. My recommendation would be to try Roundell. It’s faster/spinnier than Sriver and has very good control. I think you will find it very suitable to your needs. Keep up the training and best of luck with the new rubber!
