Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:  I need a new racket. I own a Butterfly BTY 501 and BTY 603 rackets. Neither has been close to the one I owned in the ’90s. It was an anatomical handle with better spin, speed, and much more control.

I play in a group of 30-35 people. They comprise of all around players; left handed, slow as well as fast, heavy spinners and soft hitters as well.

I am 50/50 on forehand and backhand, I spin/slice in fore and back. I, also hit fast on fore and back.

My concern is that on each hit, I hear a thwack as well as feel the ball hit in my hand (so the rubber and the wood, I feel, very cheap quality); which I don’t remember feeling in my old racket. I would like a comparable racket.

For now, can you tell me which racket best suits me?

Thank you

Answer:  Hi Sohil,

Thanks for your question and interest in Butterfly equipment.

I recommend for you to try the 5-ply all wood Grubba Pro blade with anatomic handle, and Sriver rubbers on both forehand and backhand.

This combination should provide you with everything you are looking for with your 50-50 forehand and backhand play, as well as the preferred handle you used to play with in the 90’s.

Hope you find this helpful and enjoy your new racket!

Best,
Nan Li
