Arsenal keeper Petr Cech unique table tennis training workout

After more than 400 appearances in the Premier League and another 124 with Czech Republic, one would think that Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech’s hand-eye coordination is second to none.

Yet the 35-year-old remains as dedicated to his craft as ever, judging by a recent workout with teammate Matt Macey that he filmed and posted on Instagram.

With two machines spitting coloured table tennis balls from a metre away, Cech’s task seemed simple — catch each ball, sometimes two at once, and drop it in the bin in front of him.

But Macey added a wrinkle of his own, barking out colours corresponding to four cones set up shoulder-high that Cech would have to touch in between catches.

Cech missed only six balls and went to the wrong cone three times in 50 seconds, which seems to be far better than nearly any other mortal could do.

If only opponents took penalties with table tennis balls, he’d be all set.
