April Rankings Delayed

April Rankings Delayed

Posted on

(by Steve Hopkins)

As COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc on events in all sports, the ITTF has elected to delay the release of the April Rankings.  When the April Rankings are released (likely on or around April 15), all rankings will be frozen until activities resume as normal.

ITTF has taken this extra time as they evaluate implications of travel restrictions and other complications that applied to some athletes and not to others.  There is also special consideration that must be applied to the Polish Open where qualifying rounds were played, but play was suspended before the knock-out rounds began.

This was an unprecedented decision.  Another unprecedented circumstance in a long line of others that we all hope will be a small footnote in history after we are passed this crisis, and all is back to normal.

ButterflyOnline looks forward to seeing everyone back at the tables when it is safe.
