Congratulations to Nicolas Burgos and Caroline Kumahara – Singles Champions at the South American Championships this week in Pereira Colombia.

Sixty three players from 8 countries participated this year, bringing together the best players from South America. The event took place July 21 – 27 in Pereira, Colombia.  Nicolas Burgos, the rising 20-year-old Chilean player, stood out in this event – taking the Title in both Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles, as well as a semifinalist in Men’s Teams.  Chile has brought strong teams to this event for years, and this title reaffirms its strong position and its commitment to continued development in the region.

In the women’s category, Caroline Kumahara stands out as one of the best athletes in the region – winning Women’s Singles and leading Brazil.  Caroline was the top medalist of the event, with three (3) golds: Women’s Singles, Women’s Teams and Women’s Doubles, and also won one (1) bronze in Mixed Doubles together with Erik Jouti, for a total of four (4) medals.

I feel that everything is worth it. I will continue to practice more and work hard to join the ranks of the best players in the world.”

Carolina Kumahara: “I’m very happy with this title. It wasn’t easy to play here, but I think the key to winning was to stay focused until the end and do one point, one point and the best. I’m happy with my performance.”
