Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

Hello, I play a close to the table flipping game. Forehand: With the inverted rubber I like to slow and medium loop and the drive the ball. I place an inside out game. Control is a must. I also love to block loops at wide angles. Backhand: I use the long pips to chop block, bump, and drive the ball. I like to loop a ball, flip the paddle and drive with the long pips. I drive the ball with the long pips the most. I also like to flip the paddle and look from the back hand side. So may game is meant to cause disruption. I need to be able to put the breaks on in the game and slow it down when needed. control with moderate speed is very important to me. What blade would you recommend for my game:?

Thank you,

Dwayne Carter

This the Experts question was answered by Coach Jun Gao. She is the head coach at California Table Tennis in Rosemead, CA. Coach Gao’s response is as follows:

Dwayne,  According to your description, you are a controlled style of player.  I would like to suggest the Diode V blade. It’s an all-wood blade with very good control and I also recommend you try Dignics 09C as your forehand rubber. It is more like Hurricane rubber, but it can give you very good power and spin, with Diode V blade you will feel much different.

Thank you,

Coach Gao
