Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

Dear coach, I am a modern defender using tackifire on backhand. (Use Gionis wood ALL+; tenergy 05 forehand.) I chop with Tackifire 60%, block 20% and surprise attack (20%) which is what I love. (There is a player called Wang TingTing whose style I emulate but don’t know her equipment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guRdN52J4TY)

  1. I am ready to put a new rubber but please tell me is there a big difference between Tackiness and Tackifire?
  2. Given my kind of game do you suggest I should try something new?

Thank you in advance.

Ricardo

Hi Ricardo,
Yes, there is a difference between Tackifire and Tackiness rubbers. It depends on which sheet you are asking about as there are 6 sheets of rubber that fall into those two categories. One major difference between the two is how tacky the actual rubber is. The Tackifire rubber line is tackier than the Tackiness rubber line. The tackier the rubber, the more spin you would get on your shots.  Since you chop more than half of the time, have you ever thought about switching to long pips? I recommend you try the following: Forehand – Tackiness Chop II, 1.9mm Backhand – Feint long II, 0.5mm

Best of Luck!
