Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

Hi-

I am an intermediate player , have good forehand and learning my backhand to be aggressive. I have been using Nittaku / Darker speed/ Darker imperial for sometime with Dignics 09c 1.9mm forehand , but kept changing backhand rubbers. Now, I am using Timoball ALC, with dignics 09c as FH and Dignics 05 as BH. Any recommendations of paddles/rubbers that can improve my aggressive game and take me to the next level.

This Ask the Experts question was answered by Truong Tu. Truong plays at the Silicon Valley Table Tennis Club in San Jose, CA. Coach Tu’s response is as follows:

Hi Nagaraju,

Your setup with Dignics 09C on your forehand and Dignics 05 on your backhand is already good for an intermediate player.

The recommendation for the rubber is you should use 2.1mm rubber instead of 1.9mm. Regarding the blade, if you would like to have more power on your shots, then the ZLC or even the Super ZLC is your next option.

Other recommendation if you would like your game to be more aggressive is you can tune up your game by improving your serve, serve return, and third-ball attack. Here are some of the coaching videos that could help you tune up your game. You can practice with your partner or with an Amicus Robot.
