Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

Hi,

I am an average adult (39) amateur player and I’ve been playing TT for 3 years (still improving my game). I was adviced to start with Stiga Allround Classic, then switched to Offensive Classic and now I would like to buy a new blade. All the recreative players from the club play with Butterfly equipment so I want to give it a try. My budget for a blade is around 100 euro so I was looking at the new SK Carbon, Timo Boll CAF and Omar Assar. What is your advice between those three blades or you have something else on your mind? Maybe, but just maybe I could afford a blade at 150 euro, maybe some TB ALC or Innerforce Layer ALC or Innerforce Layer ALC.S, I don’t know. I am offensive player using a lot of spin in my game, I like a great (not hard) feel for the ball, good control and looking for some more speed. P.S. Is it necesarry to seal all the mention blades?

Thank you 🙂

This Ask the Experts question was answered by Truong Tu. Truong plays at the Silicon Valley Table Tennis Club in San Jose, CA. Coach Tu’s response is as follows:

Hi Juri,

It seems like all of your previous blades are all-wood blades.

In order to not losing much feeling when switching to a carbon blade, I would recommend Arylate/Carbon blades for your budget.

You can go with the Innerforce Layer ALC or if you want a little more speed, you can go with Timo Boll ALC or Lin Gaoyuan ALC.

Best wishes,

Coach Tu
