Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

Blade: Michael Maze , Innerforce ZLC , Zhang Jike Super ZLC , Viscaria
Forehand Rubber: Tenergy 64
Backhand Rubber: Tenergy05

Hi ,

I’ve played many years with Maze blade, then needed some more speed and switched to IF ZLC , than after new plastic ball needed again something more faster so I bought ZJ SLZC and Viscaria. I use them for few months but obviously I can get used to them – maybe switch from Limba blades to Koto is problem for me – the trajectory of the ball is different and feel . Is there any blade that has the same combination of Limba , Limba and some carbon but is bit faster than IF ZLC ? ( I can see in the catalogue that there is IF ZLC layered and Apolonia ZLC but according to numbers for reaction and vibration are similar to IF ZLC. What is the composition of woods in the new Revoldia CNF ? Any suggestion from your side ? My game attach of FH mid dist and block / attach on BH . Combination of rubbers that I used many years is T64 on FH and Rakza 7 Soft and now T05 on BH .

This Ask the Experts question was answered by Truong Tu. Truong plays at the Silicon Valley Table Tennis Club in San Jose, CA. Coach Tu’s response is as follows:

Hi Robert,

It is not surprise that you have some resistance switching from Limba to Koto since Limba feels softer and provide more feeling.
However, majority of the top players using Koto now due to the advance technology that can increase the speed without losing much feeling. If you just simply want a faster version of the Innerforce Layer ZLC, then the ZLC or the Super ZLC are the one you want to look into; we have many ZLC and Super ZLC blades for you to choose from.

In your question, you have mentioned the Revoldia CNF and I think it could be a good switch for you. The new special material of the Cellulose NanoFiber technology has the characteristics of wood, with the same technology that has been used for carbon and other materials. What makes this blade stand out its ability to act like a carbon blade on attacking shots, but the soft touch of wood on soft and medium efforts shots. With this blade, you don’t have to give up much of your feeling to trade for the speed.

May I recommend you use Tenergy 05 or Dignics 05 on your forehand instead of the Tenergy 64 since the 05 version has more spin and more control. Moreover, if you would like to have even more feeling, the FX version with a softer sponge could be a good choice.

I hope this is helpful.
