Butterfly Table Tennis Question and Answer

Question:

I noticed that all competition players use red rubber on the forehand and black rubber on the backhand (or vice versa). what is the difference if there’s any?

Hi Alan, 
 
Thank you for your question and I hope you are staying safe during this time. 
 
A Chinese coach explained to me when I was young the difference of red and black rubber which has stuck with me ever since. 
 
Red rubber is harder because of the dye pigmentations, while black rubber is more tacky (stickier) and softer.  
 
Knowing this, I always use black on my forehand and red on my backhand.
