The Piyadasa Sisters Triumph at the 2024 US Open: A Family Legacy of Excellence

(by: Bowmar Sports)

As tradition dictates, the Piyadasa family once again graced the prestigious courts of the US Open in 2024, with the sisters continuing to showcase their immense talent across different categories. True to form, both Tashiya and Tiana proved their mettle, making an impressive mark on the tournament.

In the Girls’ Under-15 singles final, Tashiya, the older of the two sisters, emerged as the champion, while Tiana claimed the silver. Tashiya’s dominance was clear as she did not drop a single set throughout the competition. Her remarkable journey saw her win all of her matches 3-0, including a commanding victory over Tiana in the final.

Tiana, however, also had an exceptional run, overcoming numerous formidable opponents on her path to the final. Among her victories, she triumphed over two standout players from the USA Girls’ U15 PanAm team: Mandy Yu and Abigail Yu, showcasing her improving skill and determination.

Additionally, Tashiya’s prowess was not limited to the Under-15 category. She earned a well-deserved 3rd place in the Girls’ Under-17 singles, while Tiana clinched 2nd place in the Girls’ Under-13 doubles alongside her partner, Angela He.

The impressive results of these young athletes are, in part, a testament to the enormous support from their parents, who year after year travel across the country to watch and support their daughters. The father, who also trains the young athletes alongside their mother, is one of the pillars driving the girls’ success. They have expressed their gratitude, saying: “I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to you and the Bowmar Sports team for your unwavering support of my family throughout this journey.” At Bowmar Sports, we are proud to be a part of such incredible stories and to support these remarkable athletes.
