The Chicago Table Tennis League Has Come Down to its Final Matches
by Engelbert Solis

After many weeks of competition, the League has come down to its final two matches. The Wildcard matches along with the Semifinals matches have concluded and attention is now being focused on the last two matches of the playoffs.

Earlier this month, four teams competed in the Semifinals. The four teams included AMZ Trucking against EJ Plumbing and GO2 against Experior. In the match between AMZ Trucking and EJ Plumbing, EJ Plumbing won with five matches to two. Emad Barsoum from EJ Plumbing won three out of the five matches and helped secure a win for the team. In the second Semifinals match between GO2 and Experior, Experior won with significant help from Artur Kurek winning five games to two.

The 3rd/4th place match will be held between AMZ Trucking and GO2 on Wednesday, April 13th at 7 pm at the Schaumburg Recreational Center. AMZ Trucking players include Spenser Minh Lam, Haibin Huang, Leon Li, Jiawen (John) Bian, and Dian Li. GO2 players include Wojciech Wolski, Michael Wolski, Marcin Kurcz, Henry Polecki, and Dariusz Wolski. They played twice during the season with GO2 besting AMZ five games to two in both matches. Wojceich Wolski proved unbeatable winning all three of his individual matches. AMZ must come up with a plan to stop Wolski to come out ahead.

The League finals will be held on Thursday, April 14th at 7pm at the Wheeling Park Center. The two teams competing in the finals are Experior and EJ Plumbing. The players on Experior include Janusz Franeczek, Jerry Dydynski, Tom Dulin, Artur Kurek, and Jaroslaw Osmialowski. Arkadiusz Zyworonek, Tomasz Godlewski, Lukasz Fita, Emad Barsoum, and Sylwester Sobota make up the EJ Plumbing Team. In their previous encounter on December 12, 2016, EJ Plumbing won five games to three. Emad Barsoum, a former Egyptian national team player and Olympian dominated winning all of his individual matches.

As the season comes to a close, we hope to have a strong finish to the first season of the Chicago Table Tennis League. We look forward to beginning the next season in the Fall and are excited for the new changes coming along.
