(By Dan Seemiller)

18th South Shore/Butterfly Championships were held this weekend in Highland, In.

Jeremy Hazin from Canada captured the Men’s Singles defeating Sharon Alguetti in the final.

Nandan Naresh led 3-1 versus Jeremy in the rd. of 16. The match of the tourney was Sharon’s win over Yichi Zhang in the semis 4-3. The shotmaking was breathtaking.

In the youth events Sarah Jalli won the 15 and 18 girls and won $1,700. Sharon Alguetti faced his twin brother Gal in the boys 18 with Sharon winning 3-2. In the semis Sharon was down 0-2 to up and coming Kai Jiang and Gal had to go the distance to win versus Sid Naresh 3-2 in the other semifinal.

Many thanks to Si and Patty Wasserman, South Shore Sports and Butterfly for their support in making the 18th Highland Open a successful one with 209 entrants.

Our next South Bend tourney is scheduled for the St. Joe Valley Open March 21/22.
