2018 Butterfly Southeastern Open Giant Round Robin

The 2018 Butterfly Southeastern Giant Round Robin tournament was held last month.  The 4-star three-day tournament featured five rated events and $7,500.  Triangle Table Tennis in Morrisville, North Carolina was the host.

Friday included two warm-up singles events:  Under 1800 and Over 1800.  Changbo Lu took the honors in the U1800 event with a win over Oscar Galavis.  In the Over 1800, Jishan Liang overcame Rajat Hubli.

The featured event was the Giant Round Robin which filled the facility on Saturday and Sunday.  In the A Division, the Top two seeds each advanced through their groups undefeated.  Jishan Liang went 6-0 and Rajat Hubli went 7-0 in their respective groups.  Ultimately, the top eight players advanced to single elimination and after one elimination round, the semifinal matches pitted Jishan Liang versus Rachid El Boubou and Rajat Hubli versus Cameron Smith.  Many of the key matches were filmed by Butterfly:
