2018 Butterfly Cary Cup: Rematch of Champions

The 2018 Butterfly Cary Cup hosted by the Triangle Table Tennis Center (Morrisville, NC) is one of the longest standing premier table tennis events on the East Coast. The beloved giant round robin tournament has become a well-known favorite for players from across the US and the world, with the main event selling out every year weeks before the entry deadline. Confirmed entries into this year’s competition include many defending champions of high-level national competitions:

  • 2017 Butterfly Cary Cup Champion Kaden Xu (Defending Champion)
  • 2016 & 2017 Butterfly Arnold Table Tennis Challenge Champion Jian Li
  • 2015 Butterfly Cary Cup Champion Jishan Liang
  • 2015 US Open Champion Jinxin Wang
  • 4-time US Singles National Champion Jimmy Butler (’90,’92,’93,’14)

This year’s event will feature over $15,000 in total prize money awarded across 4 days of competition (March 29th-April 1st). The winner of the Giant Round Robin Main Event A Division will take home $3,000 in total cash/prizes and claim the title of champion of the 17th annual Cary Cup. Prize money extends through all 5 divisions of the main round robin event with 6 additional events offering trophies and cash prizes for the top 3 participants.

Triangle Table Tennis has hosted a plethora of high level training camps and events since it’s opening in 2014. Its facilities include over 30,000 square feet of space dedicated fully to table tennis training and competition. The club is designated as a USATT National Center of Excellence and an ITTF Hot Spot. As host to the Butterfly Cary Cup for the 4th year in a row, Triangle Table Tennis looks forward to welcoming the country’s best table tennis players to its exceptional facility.
