“Top 16 was the goal and we achieved it.” said Alexander’s father Mark Bu just after the loss of the match against PANG fro Singapore in the Round of 16. The score does not reflect the actual match as it was much closer than the 3-0 reflects. It was a great tournament for Alexander with also reaching the Quarter Finals in the Cadet Doubles category.

Mark Bu told us the following. “The competition was very strong.  Alex was nervous at many times especially at the beginning of a match and at the end of match. However most of times he managed to control his fear and won.”

Alexander will try and participate next in the Portugal and Spanish Open, if school work allows it.

Alicia Côte made it with her partner from Russia into the Round of 32. A very close match that could have gone either way at the end. 3-2 was the final score, but what a close match with the sets being 10-12, 11-8, 5-11, 13-11, 11-8.

Alicia said “Humm I think I was nervous so I did not play my level. Of course, I always learn something in every match. I see what I have to work on when I will be back home. She is now going off to the Swedish Open: “In two days, I will play in the sweden junior and cadet open. I will do my best and I hope to play well.”
