Stella Sport La Romagne sets out Champions League ambitions
Opening the campaign with a 3-2 home victory against Austrian side SPG Walter Wels in Group C, Stella Sport La Romagne has made a bright start to life in the Men’s Champions League.

Following the opening match win club president Guy Soulard believes that the French team can compete with the continent’s best sides in the competition.

“After winning the TT Intercup in 2004 and the ETTU Cup in 2017 the club of La Romagne participates in Champions League for the first time in its history and I must say that everyone is very playful to the idea to rub against the biggest teams in Europe”, Guy Soulard.
La Romagne enjoyed European success last season, lifting the ETTU Cup trophy earlier this year with a victory over fellow French club Angers Vaillante Sport TT in May.

With La Romagne now participating in the Champions League, coach Fabrice Coutolleau sees no reason why the team shouldn’t aim to achieve yet more success at continental level and has outlined a quarter-finals position as the objective for the club.

“It is a great pride to take part in the Champions League. It’s a new march that the club is climbing this year and the victory in the opening round, despite the tension of the players, reassured the competitiveness of our team. We hope to learn a lot from this competition and we will aim to reach the quarter-finals.It would be a great satisfaction”, Fabrice Coutolleau.
Stella Sport La Romagne returns to Group C action on Thursday 12th October with a home fixture against TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen.
