Kanak Jha and Benedikt Duda were the top ranked players in this week’s Dusseldorf Masters event. Each advanced to the Final where Duda outlasted Jha for a 3-2 win with the players traded games and momentum.
Sunday’s event was the fifth of seven events. Like the other events in the series, there was a mix of ranked players and young Germans. Cedric Meissner is the Series points leader, but Jha had no trouble topping the young German in straight sets 3-0. Jha over Meissner is a flip from a week ago where Meissner blanked Jha in a Semifinal upset. This week Duda’s Semifinal match was tight, with Benno Oehme (currently 4th in the points standings) taking a 2-0 lead before Duda managed to win three close games to win.
Current Point Leaders: Meissner 130, Oehme 95, Duda 80, Assar 80, Stumper 70, Ovtcharov 55, Kallberg 50
